Year in Review 2023: Dali Van Gogh
As another year ends, it’s time for we at Dali Van Gogh to look back on 2023. This year was unforgettable, and you, our beloved fans, had so much to do with it. Our year included the band’s first tour with the new lineup, taking us to Toronto for the NXNE festival. We then hit the road with Buckcherry for the Atlantic Canadian leg of their tour. Our EP from last year crossed the half-million mark in streams on Spotify. We released new covers that you all enjoyed, and our 2023 was capped off by our 2023 ECMA awards weekend. With three performances, two nominations, and winning "Heavy Recording of the Year," it made 2023 special.
The big news came as we approached the annual ECMA awards, held at home in Halifax. Nominated for two awards was an honor, especially alongside a legendary Nova Scotia band like The Trews. We also announced playing three showcases throughout the weekend. One was special as we supported our friend Keke Beatz at his showcase. All three shows were amazing, with high-energy crowds. The big moment was winning "Heavy Recording of the Year." Hard work paid off, and we extend thanks to everyone at the ECMA for having us.
In 2023, Dali got back on the road, heading to Toronto for the NXNE festival. We played shows with bands like Bloody Monroe, Brass, and Truss. From Montreal to Kingston, teaming up with Vandal Eyes for a show in their hometown, and playing killer venues like Barfly and The Mansion. The tour concluded with a show at the legendary Bovine Sex Club in Toronto for NXNE festival, a highlight for all of us.
Afterward, we hit the road again, supporting Buckcherry for the second time in Moncton, Charlottetown, and back home to Halifax. These three shows were like no other, from a packed Tide and Boar in Moncton to the energetic crowd in Charlottetown. Playing one of our biggest shows of the year at home at the Marquee in Halifax was a dream. Thanks to Buckcherry and their crew for being friendly, and we hope to hit the road with them again soon.
As always, we want to finish the year thanking all of you, our fans. None of this would be possible without you, from streaming our music and watching the music videos to making our live shows the best party in town. From Japan to Germany, The UK to Vietnam, and everyone in between, you are the reason we continue. A huge thanks to Carlo and the whole team at Wormhole Death Records. Your continued support over the past year is vital to us, and we can’t wait to see where the future takes us.
