Dali Van Gogh 2025 – Year in Review

Hi everyone. Hope you all had a wonderful holiday season! As 2025 comes to a close we wanted to take a quick look back at our year as has become a tradition for the band; and what a strange year it has been.

To begin with, for the first time since covid, we didn’t go out on the road. There were a variety of reasons, some more exciting than others. Regardless it has certainly been a shock to our system going from 44 shows in a 3-month period to only 7 shows all year! We’ve missed you all, we promise we will be out to see you sooner than you think.

The summer in particular was a trying time for us as a band. The rock world lost a legend this year in Ozzy Osbourne. We grieved his loss with our friends around the world who graciously contributed to a global tribute to the man. At the same time, we were dealing with the departure of our long-time friend and bandmate Johnny Moore, who made the difficult decision to leave the band after nearly 7 years. To say this was a blow would be an understatement, it left years of work unfinished, and our future largely up in the air.

Just when things were looking their darkest, we met a blinding light in Mr. Jamison Tomka, a drummer from Ontario who just happened to be looking for a band at precisely the right time. Jamison’s passion and enthusiasm has proven the perfect medicine for our particular ailment, and in the 4 months since he joined the band officially, we have moved forward behind the scenes in leaps and bounds. Speaking of..

Most noteworthy, Dali Van Gogh took on the largest musical project in our careers: producing 3 albums simultaneously: a new original record (which we’d been trying to get off the ground since 2023), and acoustic album, and a live album compiling some special takes from the last few years on the road. I’m not ashamed to admit that we severely underestimated the workload involved in such an endeavor, but I’m happy to report that we are finally seeing light at the end of this very long tunnel and, barring any major speedbumps, have new music releasing soon.

Lastly, to cap it all off, we got the call in November to come and play “rock n roll” night at the Scotiabank Centre. To say this was a dream come true would be putting it lightly, we have been huge fans of the Halifax Thunderbirds lacrosse team since their first season, and what Haligonian hasn’t dreamed of playing “The Metro Centre”. 10,500 people later and we cannot wait to come back.

So that’s it for this year. We have some very, VERY big things planned for 2026 AND 2027. We hope to see you all along the way.

Happy New Year! Isaac Kent
